Thinking about getting Botox or fillers for the first time? You’re probably excited and maybe a little nervous. Completely normal. The world of aesthetic injectables can feel overwhelming when you’re just starting to explore your options.
At The Aesthetic Co. in Canton, MI we work with first-timers every single day. Our goal is to make sure you feel educated, comfortable and genuinely excited about treatment. Here’s the honest, no fluff guide to what you actually need to know before your first appointment.
A consultation is just a consultation
Every new client at the Aesthetic Co. gets a free consultation with Lynn Bertasio, MSN, FNP, BC- board certified nurse injector who will tell you exactly what she thinks will help, and what won’t. No upselling, No pressure.
Botox vs. Fillers- What’s the Difference
Botox and similar toxins like Dysport and Daxxify relaxes the muscles that cause expression lines. Forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet and the 11’s between your brows. Results kick in within a few days, but full results kick in after 2 weeks. Results last 3- 6 months depending on a number of factors.
Dermal Fillers restore volume beneath skin. Think lips and cheeks and under eye hollows. Results are immediate and last 6 to 18 months depending on product.
Will it Look Natural?
Yes, if you choose the right injector. The “overdone” look people worry about comes from too much product. Lynn’s approach is conservative and tailored to your face. The goal is for people to notice you look great, not notice that you’ve had something done.
Does it Hurt?
Botox feels like a quick pinch. Fillers have slightly more sensation, but most containing numbing agents built in.
Preventive Anti-Aging
Botox isn’t just for reversing wrinkles; it can actually prevent deep lines from forming in the first place. By relaxing the muscles that cause repetitive facial movements, it stops creases from becoming permanently etched into the skin overtime.
A Few Things to Know Before You Go
Avoid ibuprofen, aspirin, and alcohol for a day or two before to reduce bruising.
Don’t judge results early. Botox takes up to 2 weeks to settle.
Bruising is normal. It fades within a week, and Arnica is a great topical to reduce bruising.
Do not schedule an appointment before a big event. Give yourself a month to see full results.
Request to see before/after photos of procedures you are interested in getting done.
Be aware of injectable service pricing that feels too good to be true.
Stay hydrated before and after your appointment.
